12 noon          Mr Norman Kerr - presentation on linen processes
12.45pm         Lunch at the Hotel
  2.30pm         Wellbrook Beetling Mill – guided visit 
  4.00pm         Gleshygolgan Flax Mill, Plumbridge – visit to restored
                            mill incorporating hydroelectric system installed by Hydro NI

Fee for the day €25 – if AGM only, no charge.

Summer Event 2011

County Waterford  25/26 June

Our summer event in the rich countryside of county Waterford will commence at Flahavans Mill, Kilmacthomas, hosted by John Flahavan. The afternoon will be devoted to a tour of other historic mills powered by the River Mahon and a visit to a former woollen mill at Fairbrook House, Kilmeaden, Museum of Contemporary Figurative Art & Gardens.  Sunday morning will be centred on the industrial complex of Portlaw ‘Cotton Town’.

Saturday 25 June
10.30am            Meet at Flahavan’s Kilmacthomas, registration, tea & coffee
11.00am            Tour of the Mill & Plant
12 noon              Talk on the history of milling and hydro-power on the River Mahon by Sean and Sile Murphy
1.00pm               Lunch at Keighery’s Café Kilmacthomas
2.30pm              Visit to mills and mill sites along the River Mahon
3.30/4pm          Fairbrook House, Kilmeadeen, visit hosted by Artist and Owner, Clary Mastenbroek,

Sunday 26 June
11.00am            Meet with members of Portlaw Heritage Society, at the local heritage centre. 
                              Talk by William Power, historian and Portlaw Heritage Society committee member,                                                   followed by walk-about.
12.30pm           End of Event.  Lunch available at the Cotton Mill Café, Portlaw. 
                              Other visit options: Copper Coast Geo Park,Dungarvan.

                            Cost: Morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea & visits on Saturday 25 June and visits Sunday morning                             26 June: €25 p/person

Spring Event 2011


Saturday 9 April @ Fancroft Mill, Roscrea, County Tipperary

10.30a.m.    Registration Coffee & Scones

11.00 a.m.   Marcus Sweeney will give a presentation on restoration work
                         to date at Fancroft and the recent hydro power installation

11.45a.m.    Sven Richter, Civil Engineer and Managing Director of Hydropower Corporation Ltd.
                         (99439 Wohlsborn, Germany) will speak about his company and ongoing project-work both in                          Ireland and elsewhere.

Q & A time

Lunch followed by a tour of the mill and installations.
The Gardens at Fancroft will also be open to visitors
